KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 10 – The concessionaires of 24 expressways have agreed to provide incentives in the form of toll rebates and discounts for class 1 vehicles in conjunction with this year’s Aidilfitri celebration.
Works Minister Datuk Seri Shaziman Abu Mansor said the toll rebates and discounts, the highest ever given, would also be in conjunction with the Merdeka Day celebration.
“For class 1 vehicles using the electronic toll payment at expressways managed by PLUS Berhad, they get to enjoy a toll rebate of 30 per cent on Aug 22 and 23.
“For those using other expressways, like the east Coast Expressway,, motorists can enjoy a toll discount of between 10 and 37.5 per cent from Aug 18 to 21,” he added.
He told this to reporters after visiting the site for the proposed construction of a toll exit from the KL-Kuala Selangor Expressway (LATAR) to Jalan B149, Kundang, near here today.
Shaziman said that in conjunction with the Merdeka Day celebration, the concessionaires of two highways, Maju Expressway (MEX) and the Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP), would not be collecting toll from motorists on that day.
He said the other 22 expressways would be offering a toll rebate and discount of between 10 and 30 per cent.
With the coming Aidilfitri celebration, Shaziman urged all repair works on expressways to be stopped to avoid congestion and ensure smooth traffic flow.
All work should be stopped one week before until a week after Aidilfitri, he added.
He said an estimated 1.7 million motorists would be using PLUS daily during the festive season, compared with 1.2 million daily on normal days.
