Just around the corner, some 2,500 delegates will vote during the UMNO General Assembly. But on different point of view, the delegates are not only voting for the future leaders of UMNO itself, infact it will also reflect the fate and chances of UMNO`s survival in Malaysian Politics.
In the not so distance future, the new UMNO leadership line up selected during the 2008 UMNO General Assembly will be put on the real test when the 13th General Election 2012 approaching. The public, not only the Malays or the UMNO members, will be watching closely the effectiveness and how do the newly selected leaders of UMNO adapted and answered to the needs of Malaysian in general. Especially in the task to overcome the current world economical downturn. Will people turned away like they did on the 12th General Election 2008? Are we able to form a stronger 2/3 majority Government? Time will tell how our leaders performed.
Members of UMNO must also be aware, there is no point for any of them to become a leader in UMNO or to become a champion during the UMNO General Assembly but at the end of the day, BN won`t be able to cashing in, by loosing on the election processes thus we fail to form the government.
Personally i really hope the new line up of UMNO leadership would be able to visualise and assures that corruption is minimized, the views of minorities are taken into account and that the voices of the most vulnerable in society are heard in decision-making. It is also responsive to the present and future needs of our society in general.
Last but not least, the future of UMNO sustainability, perseverance and relevance is in your hands. The ball is in your court, therefore good luck.
